Christine Ko was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She spent her middle school years in Taipei, Taiwan where she learned to speak mandarin Chinese before returning to Georgia to finish high school and go on to graduate from Georgia State University.
She recently wrapped filming her lead role in Alan Yang’s Netflix feature film, Tigertail, starring alongside John Cho, Tzi Ma, Hayden Szeto, and Joan Chen. Ko plays Angela, Grover’s (Tzi Ma) strong-willed and fiery daughter, in this intergenerational Asian-American story that takes place in 50s, 60s, 70s Taiwan, and modern-day New York. She is best known for her series regular role as Emma, the magazine’s millennial social media expert, in the CBS television sitcom The Great Indoors starring opposite Joel Mchale and Stephen Fry. Christine can also been seen in Hawaii Five-O as the recurring role of Jessie Nomura, a recently freed ex-convict whom Adam (Ian Anthony Dale) recruits to help him with his newly formed unit tasked by McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) to take down the most ruthless crime syndicates on the island.
Earlier this year, she booked the recurring role of “Mandi” on Greg Daniels’ half-hour sci-fi romantic satire Upload, which received a 10-episode series order from Amazon studios.
