Actor/writer/producer Todd Allen has appeared in close to 70 film and television productions in his career. He has worked with Kevin Costner on three films and with Robert Duvall on The Apostle (1997), and again on Broken Trail (2006), where Allen received excellent reviews as the Territorial Marshal Bill Miller.
Always varied in his projects, Allen’s recent appearances showcase chameleon-like qualities, in widely varied roles he had taken on. He exhibits a remarkable range of characters from the role of a Catholic priest in the inspirational sports drama, My All-American (2015) to a vicious plantation overseer in the blockbuster hit, Django Unchained (2012).
An entrepreneurial spirit, Allen has interests in Real Estate, Commercial Development, and Alternative Energy in addition to his film pursuits.
Via his independent media and production company, Virtuosity, Allen has a number of exciting, exemplary, film and television projects under the Virtuosity umbrella which include some 24 feature projects, 14 television projects, two documentaries and a number of alternative tv projects. Current development projects include the gritty, film noir styled western, The Deserters, the romantic thrill ride, Suicide Grip, and The Empty Quarter, a timely and cautionary tale set on a drilling installation in Saudi Arabia’s barren desert. Virtuosity Television is developing several 1-hour drama series’ as well as long-form mini-series projects and alternative programming. He is Producing a number of powerful, female driven projects to include Sarita, an epic, prohibition era drama, based upon true events of a 17 yr old Sarita Gibson who journeys into to Mexico and into the dark heart of the tequila smuggling /gun running trade to find her brother’s killers and avenge his murder. And, Voodoo 7, a feature detailing the deadly adventures of America’s first female fighter pilot shot down during a secret mission along the Pakistani/ Iraq border. Presumed dead, she engages in a life and death struggle to survive her Taliban pursuers and to return home to a Country which has declared her dead, and to a family that believes it.
Allen took significant time away from his on-screen appearances while building and attending to the various aspects of launching Virtuosity and his other business ventures. But, he is already back at work in front of the camera, with three upcoming projects in the que to shoot. Among them, a project that will take him to Italy and Spain to shoot an Italian-produced and directed spaghetti western in the same locales where Sergio Leone once filmed his epic productions with Clint Eastwood. He will play a character based upon Henry Fonda’s iconic character in Leone’s “Once Upon A Time In The West” and also Produces the film.
Among Allen’s more recent appearances is the role of Slave Trainer “Dollar Bill” in Quentin Tarantino’s epic box office champion, Django Unchained. Allen also starred in the independent feature, Frontera (2010), playing a tough, driven Texas Ranger who brings down a drug cartel. Allen has an extensive list of films and television appearances on his resume with appearances, among others, in the NBC/Bruckheimer series Chase (2010), a recurring role on Friday Night Lights (2006), and Guest Star roles on hit shows such as CSI, NCIS, Chicago Hope and many others.
Other career highlights include multiple films with writer/director Lawrence Kasdan, and an early career role of famed fighter ace Chuck Yeager.
Allen maintains residences in both Los Angeles and his hometown, Austin,Texas where he lives with his wife and youngest child. He is married to top Real Estate Broker / Agent Dara Allen and exists in a constant state of gratitude for his many blessings.
